This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Cathelyn Hutchinson who was born on April 20, 1984 in College Park, GA, USA and passed away on June 20, 2011. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

Remembering Cathelyn by her good friend - Gerald DeJean
Cathelyn LeNise Hutchinson was born on Good Friday, the 20th of April, in 1984 to Frank Middlebrooks and Alexine Hutchinson.

At an early age, Cathelyn discovered her passion for music and dance.  She attended grade school in the Atlanta area where she learned to play the violin in the fourth grade while pursuing various types of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, and other modern genres.  Her love and talent for the arts led her to Tri-Cities High School where she enrolled in the Performing Arts Magnet Program as a Dance major and was selected as one of the Who’s Who Among American High School Students, a program that recognizes the top students in the country that have excelled in their academics, participated in a variety of extracurricular activities and completed an abundant amount of community service.

Upon graduation from high school, she decided to continue her education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as a Finance major where she graduated with honors.  She was very active at Evangel Fellowship Church of God in Christ where she served as mentor, missionary, and leader in the college ministry.  During this time, she was also selected as an intern for DuPont in Wilmington Delaware where she worked in the Payment Services department.  She was later an intern at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington where she would later be employed.  While at Microsoft, Cathelyn was under watch care at The City Church in Kirkland, Washington where she served as a City Kids volunteer.  As a Microsoft Finance Rotation Program participant, she diligently served on the community service, newsletter, and morale committees.  She also served as a secretary for Little Drops Orphanage Fund, volunteered and mentored for the King County Enrichment Program on top of mentoring Microsoft Summer interns.  Cathelyn was affiliated with the following organizations: Blacks at Microsoft (BAM), Finance African American Microsoft Employees (FAAME), Accounting the Language of Business, the Eyes and Ears of Management (ALOBEAEM) Accounting Society, and the Finance Management Association (FMA).

Cathelyn was raised in the church and gave her life to Christ at an early age, joining World Changers Church International at the tender age of five, where she would later serve in the Children’s Ministry with the Grasshoppers.

Always a shining star and a ray of light to all of those she came into contact with, Cathelyn’s memory will live on and always shine bright in the minds and hearts of those she touched.

In the Bible, Jesus resurrected people from the dead even his friend Lazurus. (John 11:32-45) I spent my public school life knowing Cathelyn and I never knew her to be hurtful or disrespectful. She didnt deserve this... no one does. What comfort it brings to know someone like Cathelyn isnt suffering but is merely asleep and has the hope of coming back as God promises through His Son Jesus. The family is in my prayers and please know death is not natural. We serve a God of the Living not of the dead. You can never get used to losing a loved one because it simply is not natural. We were created and designed to live forever..and according to the Bible we will. (John 5:28,29)

To: Alexine and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. May God help you find comfort during this time. Just call on him for comfort. Weeping will endure for a moment but Joy will come again. She is resting in the care of the Almighty but understand everyone is sharing this sorrow with you. Continue to ask God for strength. This is a sad moment in your life but the only answer I know is Prayer and Pray for the strength to endure.

May you be forever comfort by the spirit of God.

Dear Alexine Hutchinson and Family, I will truly miss our beautiful Catheilyn. From a little girl, I knew she was very special. I will never forget how much Judea adored Cathelyn as well. Judea often would say that Cathelyn made the best oatmeal in the world. May the Grace of GOD continue to be with you and your family.  Sincerely , Judy Days-Dee (long time Savannah friend and neighbor)
